Natural Insect Repellant from Tropical Traditions

Biting bugs really bug me. I don't like it when they bite me or my babies, but I have a really hard time using insect repellants that are full of harmful, toxic chemicals. Even if I just apply these "regular" repellants to myself, I worry that they may be transferred to my children.

Mosquitoes especially were a big problem for my family last summer when my daughter was under six months old. There was no way I was going to douse either of us with DEET--and so we stayed inside a lot. Chasing fireflies with my toddler also became a challenge because when the fireflies are out, so are the mosquitoes. And how can I trust a label that says I need to wash the product off as soon as I get inside? That is not something I want to use.

So I have been searching high and low for a safe and natural alternative to the typical insect repellants out there. I was so happy to come across the Organic Insect Repellant and Moisturizer from Tropical Traditions. I knew immediately that this was a product I wanted to feature on my blog to share with all of you.

The first thing that I noticed about the Organic Insect Repellant is
that it is an insect repellant that really smells good! Amazing! It is also a wonderful lotion and moisturizer at the same time. It is almost unbelievable that such a people-friendly product could be offensive to bugs! The main ingredient, coconut oil, has been used for centuries as a natural insect repellant, according to the Tropical Traditions website. I am so excited to try this outdoors when the weather gets warmer again. I'll just have to make sure I don't use it all up as a lotion first!

The ingredients are all safe and natural. You will recognize them all as ingredients that you feel safe putting on your skin. Here are all the ingredients: purified water, organic Virgin Coconut Oil, organic jojoba, emulsifying wax (plant based, no soy), grapefruit seed extract, virgin palm oil, and organic essential oils of citronella, catnip, lemongrass, peppermint, and tansy.

This product is not only good for your health, it is also good for the earth because it is made of organic ingredients and because it does not come in an aerosol can. I am so happy to have such a wonderful product in my home that is safe for me to use and to have on around my children. (I will use it on my toddler now and on my baby when she is a little older.) I definitely recommend checking out this natural mosquito repellant as well as the many other natural products from coconut oil from Tropical Traditions.

Happy Repelling!
